Meet the girls of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. These five are in a different program than you would've found at NWTC a few years ago. The are the first to graduate from the school with a degree in Dairy Science and they couldn't be more ready to take on the future of the dairy industry.
NWTC really kicked their agriculture programs into high gear about two years ago with degree programs like Agronomy, and Dairy Science.
If you're wondering, they also have wine and cheese making courses….please sign me up NOW!
The best part of this interview was talking to the students and also their awesome teacher who goes by Dr. Wendy. Wendy's been a part of these girls lives helping them succeed and get out into the agriculture workforce. You can tell from just talking to the girls that they're ready to get things rolling. Even with everything that's going on in agriculture right now, they're very optimistic about their futures.
They might not all be the most vocal when it came to stepping up to the mic…but they sure do know exactly what they want out of their degree. With the degree they get some really good networking opportunities with internships in the industry. Internships make for a great “in” when it comes to looking for a full time position, not only in agriculture, but in any type of career. That's your introduction into the field and that's when you show people what you're made of. Some of the girls are going to take on full time positions because of these internships after graduation.
We wish them the best and hopefully they can inspire others to get into agriculture with their stories! Class of 2019 – Go Get 'Em!
