ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Many local agencies have been busy making plans this week for President Donald Trump’s visit to Northeast Wisconsin this weekend.
Trump will be holding a campaign rally Saturday night at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon.
The doors will open at the Resch at 4 o’clock. The President is expected to take the stage at 7 o’clock.
Since Trump announced last week that he was coming to Ashwaubenon, it’s been around the clock phone calls at the Republican Party of Brown County office.
“We have had calls from Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, all people who want to get in and see the President,” said Jim Fitzgerald, the chairman of the Republican Party of Brown County.
If you want to be at the Resch Center with the President, you need to register at DonaldJTrump.com. After you sign up, you’ll get a text message from 880-22 with a link to your ticket.
But Fitzgerald tells FOX 11 the text message link isn’t working for everyone.
“So if you have the 880-22 text message, that will help you get in because that shows you’ve registered for the rally.”.
Even if you’ve registered, and received the text message with the link, it doesn’t guarantee you’ll be inside the Resch Center for the event.
Fitzgerald says the number of tickets being issued is beyond capacity, meaning it is first come, first served, so get here early.
“We don’t want to disappoint anybody but we’re telling people that noon is not out of the question.”
Ashwaubenon Public Safety Chief Eric Dunning tells FOX 11 that sounds about right.
“We’re anticipating probably 10,000 people inside the Resch Center and then whatever may be outside as well. We’re learning more as the event is rolling out, what the specifics are going to be that evening.”
That includes road closures. So far, Armed Forces Drive in front of the Resch Center is the only full closure, according to Dunning. However, there will be more announced for when the President travels between the airport and Resch Center.
As for parking, Dunning says it should be similar to other Resch Center events.
“But people keep in mind there are other events going on.”.
That includes Lambeau Field, which is expected to be operating business as usual.
But, the Packers have told area high schools with prom to tell students it would be best to make alternate picture plans due to the uncertainty with traffic in the area.
