GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Packers Give Back are helping give Wisconsin’s most vulnerable children something to call their own.
It comes in the form of a suitcase with items for the children in the Foster Care system as they move from home to home.
The event was part of the 2nd Annual “I Am For The Child Day”.
Money raised from Packers Give Back Celebrity Bowling Event coming up in June will be used to create more suitcases.
Anna Linsley, wife of Packer Center Corey Linsley is a spokesperson for CASA for Children. She says children normally move their stuff in trash bags.
“Clothes, stuffed animals, favorite books, those things are really meaningful.” She says the suitcases will make a difference in such a difficult situation.
Both Anna and Corey Linsley are Advocates for the programs and have helped a few children themselves.
“A lot of times people forget that there are so many children in this type of situation.”
The program’s goal is to provide Foster children in Wisconsin their own suitcase to carry around.
“Being in the child welfare system is difficult for children,” said Wisconsin CASA State Director Sue Schwartz. “If we can provide them with a new suitcase or duffle bag for their personal items, think of the sense of pride and ownership it will give these youngsters.”
In 2018, Wisconsin CASA provided a specially trained volunteer Advocate to 975 children.
The suitcases are just a piece of the puzzle but they will contain items such as pajamas, a pillow, books, and toiletries that are given to the child. Each suitcase will also have the Packer logo on the front.
