GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – On Monday, the man who allegedly shot and killed a Preble High School student pleaded not guilty.
21-year-old Jared Williquette faces four charges including first-degree reckless homicide for the death of 18-year-old Federico Abarca.
Court records show that no trial date has been set for Williquette and he’ll return to court on June 17 for a status conference.
The charges stem from a February 22 drug deal gone wrong, which was allegedly set up by 17-year-old Gavin Rock.
He faces a slew of charges including being party to reckless homicide, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, as well as misdemeanor counts of obstruction and bail jumping.
Also facing counts of being party to reckless homicide, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, plus misdemeanor obstructing are 18-year-old Colton Kehoe and 20-year-old Jarid Stevens.
Rock set up a drug deal with Abarca on Snapchat, according to Green Bay Police.
The group of four went to Abarca’s apartment with the intent of stealing five vaping cartridges that contained THC, which is the active ingredient in marijuana.
According to the complaint, Williquette told police he used a 9mm Smith & Wesson in the shooting.
