FOX VALLEY, WI (WTAQ) – A major interchange in the Fox Valley is closer to being named after former State Senator Michael Ellis.
The bill has passed through both houses of the Legislature and will soon head to Governor Tony Evers for his signature.
The Interstate 41/Highway 10/441 interchange name change was encouraged by Governor Scott Walker last August.
Ellis died last July at his home in Neenah.
Ellis, a Republican, served in the state Assembly from 1971 to 1982, then the state Senate from 1983 to 2015.
He was also the president of the Senate from 2011 until his retirement in 2015.
Last July the interchange was finally completed with connections in all directions.
For about four decades it had been left unfinished, lacking direct connections in certain directions.
