GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay’s new Mayor is laying out his first steps after he takes office.
It’s a quick turnaround for Genrich.
He will take the oath of office just weeks after being elected. That means it’s time to get to work and first thing’s first, sticking to what he promised during the campaign.
“Priority number one still absolutely needs to be a focus on roads and an investment in infrastructure.”
Genrich says soon the tax plan will be worked on and it will be another chance to focus on some of his campaign promises.
“The fiscal issues are going to take precedence out of the gate and I am looking forward to taking on those issues.”
Unlike the past 16 years in Green Bay, Genrich says there will be a much larger transition process.
“I am sort of getting my arms around the organization and planning to meet with department heads.
I will continue to get to know those folks as well as council members.”
He says it will also be important to have a good working relationship with the city council, mending some of the rifts between the executive and legislative branch.
“I am going to be as deliberate as I can to make sure that I am including council in the big decisions that are made.”
Genrich will be taking over the duties of Mayor in Mid-April.
