This is the sign you'll see out at
Brick's Hortonville Hardware
if you stop by today or tomorrow. We've all heard of blood drives, food drives, and things like that. But who has heard of a farm drive? If this is your first time, it's also mine! We're farm drive virgins and that's okay! The goal of the farm drive is to get donations for the victims that are stuck out in Nebraska because of all the flooding that's been going on. The team at Brick's was so nice and you could tell they were happy to make their store a drop site for donations.

The coolest part about being there this morning was seeing how much people really do care about other farmers. I noticed how much people just wanted to support them in any way that they can. The woman behind the farm drive is Leslie Swinford. Leslie and her husband have some beef cattle out on a little farm and they heard what had happened in Nebraska and just knew they had to help out. According to
FarmingUK
, around one million calves have been lost in the floods…ONE MILLION. I got a chance to talk with Leslie about a few things like how the idea even came to her and her husband, what these farmers are going through, and what they really need.
I think the saddest part about this is that I feel like the news just swept it under the rug and forgot about it. I think there needs to be more of a spotlight put on these ranchers. The one thing people seem to be forgetting is that this isn't only impacting the farmers in Nebraska but it'll impact all of us when it comes down to it! We can't just sit back and watch them struggle. If you listened to the interview with Leslie, she said that some of these ranchers have been without food for a week or so by now. That doesn't even shed any light on what their animals are going through either.
I feel for these ranchers out in Nebraska and I can't even begin to imagine what's happening with them. Luckily, donations were coming in while I was out at the hardware store and it's just great to see people that care. One thing I think Wisconsin is pretty good at is caring for others. From people donating all the way to people taking off of work to drive supplies down there….it's amazing to see!
his is one of the pallets that is going out to Nebraska and I can't wait to follow up with the journey as they bring everything out to the ranchers. The convoy will be heading out of Hortonville tomorrow night after they're done loading everything up. The last thing they'll make sure to do before leaving is to strap the American flags to the trucks. If you want to donate, some of the things that they really need are fencing supplies, hay, and mineral blocks. Anything is appreciated though! I wish everyone that's driving out there the best of luck.
