After weeks of speculation, Texas A&M has officially lured Buzz Williams away from Virginia Tech to be its new coach. Williams, a Texas native who spent two seasons as an Aggies assistant from 2004 to 2006, led Virginia Tech to three NCAA Tournament appearances in five years, highlighted by a trip to the Sweet 16 this season. The 46-year-old previously guided Marquette to five NCAA Tournament berths, including a run to the Elite Eight in 2013, over a six-year span. Williams was widely believed to be the leading candidate to replace Billy Kennedy, who was dismissed after the Aggies went 14-18 overall and 6-12 in the SEC this season.
