APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The city of Appleton has reached a social media milestone.
10,000 people have linked on to follow the cities Facebook page. Chad Doran, Communications Coordinator says that mark is significant.
“As best as we can tell, we are the first city account in the state to hit that milestone.”
The mark was hit over the weekend.
Doran says their page is more than just a government information Facebook page.
“We try to mix in some humor, we have a little bit of fun and I think when people see that human side of government, it makes them more appreciative of government a little more.”
Doran adds that they have had good success with What’s your Question Wednesdays where people can ask questions about the city and get quick answers.
“It is fun and engaging and we have seen a lot of benefit to it to have people get answers to their questions whether it is something big or little.”
He says social media has been the best way to reach a large number of residents.
In their facebook to let the community know, Appleton Officials showed a strong appreciation.
So for that we say thank you! It’s a credit to each and every one of you for your feedback, interacting with us, asking questions and keeping us on our toes. We appreciate it and are glad you find this as another avenue to find information on the work we are doing for you!
