GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Town of Eaton woman arrested Wednesday for mistreating dozens of animals and neglecting her two daughters has now been charged.
Court documents are providing new details of the deplorable conditions the animals and children were living in.
One cow, two goats, and four sheep were the animals found dead and frozen outside the Town of Eaton home.
Authorities say they were told there are multiple other dead animals under the snow that they could not see.
That new information was learned in a criminal complaint when 20 criminal charges were filed against 36-year-old Lisa Kraszewski.
The Humane Society is taking care of 31 dogs taken from the home. They were found after deputies say the woman’s father was bit in the leg by one of the dogs.
According to the criminal complaint, a deputy asked Kraszewski if she had any reason to have this many dogs. She responded that she didn’t.
As for the dead animals, Kraszewski told the deputy “she didn’t know that she had to call anyone to let them know these animals were dead.” She also said she didn’t try to sell or care for the animals before they died.
The complaint shows Kraszewski had an expired 2017 dog kennel license for 13 dogs.
The town constable for Eaton tells FOX 11 the town had no idea she had 31 dogs, but it was preparing to cite her after neighbors complained to the town board about constant barking.
The criminal complaint states the woman’s two daughters, ages 12 and 7, also smelled of dog waste. They also missed a lot of school this year and were poorly dressed for the weather.
The girls are currently staying with their grandparents.
Kraszewski was issued a $10,000 signature bond and is due back in court next Friday.
As part of her bond conditions, Kraszewski isn’t allowed to possess or care for any animals. She can only have contact with her daughters under conditions from child protective services and also has to report to the daily report center for suspected mental health issues.
Deputies had to use two sets of handcuffs on her because she was resisting arrest, according to the complaint.
Kraszewski is due back in court next Friday.
