GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Former State Representative wins Green Bay’s Mayoral Primary in a big way.
“This decisive victory feels really good, but the slate is really wiped clean now.”
Eric Genrich won the primary by nearly 3,000 votes Tuesday and says he is happy to have the momentum that he has at halftime.
“This is really just the first step,” he said. “We have a few more weeks in front of us and plan on hitting the ground running again.”
Genrich says the campaign has been very positive so far and plans to keep the same approach now that the field has been narrowed down to two.
“We are going to stick to the plan that was successful during the primary. We are going to continue to engage in conversations on the phone and at the doorstep.”
Genrich says his approach included a lot of listening to the people of Green Bay and about amplifying the voices of the people of Green Bay. He says his experience in an elected position also helped the outcome.
“Demonstrating an ability to work with people on both sides of the aisle I think was very helpful,” he said. “There has been a lot of listening over the last 12 months and I plan to continue to do that.”
As far as his plan for Green Bay, Genrich says Mayor Jim Schmitt is leaving the new Mayor with a very good city, but there is always room to take it to the next level and that is what he is planning on doing.
When it comes to the campaign against Patrick Buckley, Genrich says he is not focused on the opposing messages.
“I’m looking forward to the conversations that we are going to have with voters. Obviously, there is going to be a decision that is presented to the Green Bay voters coming up.
