APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – A man convicted of operating a vehicle which ended up causing a fatal traffic crash in Kaukauna was sentenced Friday.
Travis Berndt will serve two years in prison for the May 14, 2016 incident.
Smith was convicted of knowingly operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
Reports indicate that he was traveling at high rate of speed, exited the I-41 off-ramp at Highway 55 in Kaukauna, lost control and rolled.
A passenger, Jamie Jackson was killed and two others were injured.
Berndt was scheduled to appear in court Nov. 28 for sentencing but did not appear.
Berndt was placed on extended supervision for three years. He must also do at least 60 hours of community service, primarily talking about life decisions.
