FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – A Fond du Lac man charged with sexually assaulting and delivering drugs to multiple children has been sentenced to more than 200 years in prison.
36-year-old James O. Rasmussen was convicted of 44 counts in the case and sentenced to 203 years in prison, followed by 62 years of extended supervision.
“While no amount of prison time can change the trauma that the children in this case endured because of Rasmussen’s actions, it is because of the children’s courage to report what happened that allowed for Rasmussen to be held accountable for his actions,” Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says in a news release. “Because of their bravery, the children in our community will be better protected. I also hope the court’s sentence serves as a clear message to what happens to those that engage in this monstrous behavior.”
Rasmussen’s behavior was called “monstrous, narcissistic, and predatory” by Judge Robert Wirtz during the sentencing hearing.
Rasmussen is not eligible for parole.
