OCONTO, WI (WTAQ) – 55-year-old Guy Maras was convicted on Tuesday for a drunk driving crash on July 29 in Underhill, which killed his friend Joseph Gallagher.
Maras pleaded guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and two other counts were dismissed.
He will be sentenced on April 12, according to the clerk of courts.
54-year-old Joseph Gallagher was a passenger in Maras’ car that was traveling north on Klatt Road past the intersection of County Hwy.
According to officials, the vehicle was going 100 miles-per-hour when it went off the road and struck a tree stump.
Maras’ blood alcohol level was .169, which is more than twice the legal limit.
According to the complaint, he has made several statements regarding how he killed his friend and that it was because of his alcoholism.
