GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The daughter of State Representative John Nygren will stand trial on June 10.
Cassie Nygren is facing ten charges, including first-degree reckless homicide by drug delivery in connection with the death of Jennifer Skeen.
She was in Brown County court on Friday for a scheduling conference and pleaded not guilty.
A four-day trial is planned.
Nygren’s boyfriend Shawn Gray was convicted last week in the death and he will be sentenced in April.
State Representative Nygren has regularly discussed his daughter’s struggle with drugs in the past and it prompted him to sponsor numerous laws aimed at combating the opioid epidemic.
According to court records, Dontreace Saulsberry, who allegedly provided the drugs to Gray and Nygren for sale to Skeen, will return to court in March for a status conference, but no trial date has been set.
