APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – On Wednesday a Fox Valley truck-driver was honored for safely driving three million miles.
Richard Dain has been driving a truck professionally for 36 years and has never had an accident.
He’s been with the Holland Trucking Company for 28 years.
He operates out of Appleton and makes the 564-mile round-trip to Minneapolis five days a week.
To celebrate his career accomplishment, Dain received a police escort by the Winnebago County Sheriff and was presented with his three million miles award.
He tells FOX 11 he’s proud of the accomplishment.
“It’s a major achievement. Out of the thousands of drivers that are out there day in and day out, there’s a small percentage that can actually achieve such a goal.”
For a little perspective, driving three million miles is equivalent to making six round-trips to the moon… or about 120 times around Earth.
