GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Cold temperatures throughout Northeast Wisconsin and an expected band of snow has residents bundling up.
“Just got my insulated pants on, four sets of shirts, and my stocking cap,” says Bryan Fox with Fox Excavating.
All good things must come to an end and apparently that holds true for weather this winter.
Mild temperatures to this point are now being replaced with harsh winds and soon-to-be snowfall.
Fox says the cold weather impacted their work on Monday.
“We had a couple issues with the dump trucks being able to dump material off at the other end and was just a little slower going, but you got to plug on,” he says.
He thinks the best cure is to press on and warm up by staying active.
“We hop between machines and actually get out shoveling,” says Fox. “So we get to warm up periodically throughout the day.”
But this is Wisconsin after all, and for most people, this isn’t their first flirtation with a Midwest winter.
Mark Ring was riding his bike around the Fox River Trail.
He believes the old saying is true, that it wouldn’t be so bad, if not for the wind.
“I’ve been in colder weather with the wind blowing when it’s warmer out as far as the temperatures,” he explains. “But the wind is what you have to try to be careful of.”
Others walking on the trail took it a step farther.
“This is a relatively nice day, it’s sunny, no wind,” says Dawn Delvaux-Goodman of Green Bay. “Even though it’s a little colder, it’s really not bad.”
“I figure it’s a healthy walk.,” says Susan McHugh of Green Bay. “You need some fresh air and some sunlight, and I don’t get enough sunlight in the winter.”
It’ll be tough to get out biking or walking on the trails for the next couple of days though, as anywhere from three to five inches of snow is expected to come through the area sometime Tuesday and then stop by Wednesday.
Other areas south of Green Bay are expected to see somewhere between four to six inches of snow.
And the snow will cease mid-week just in time to be replaced by bitterly cold temperatures.
The high on Friday is expected to nosedive to single digits and hover around that mark throughout the weekend.
