ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – The unofficial mayor of Ashwaubenon has left the building….or at least the Village.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety says Smoke the wild turkey, who gained national media fame by roaming the streets of the village for months, was safely captured by USDA wildlife biologists earlier today (Friday).
Ashwaubenon Public safety says Smoke was captured humanely and was not injured.
The USDA, in cooperation with the local DNR, have also informed Ashwaubenon Public Safety they’ll be relocating Smoke to anundisclosed wildlife area to allow him to live freely in the wild with other turkeys.
In recent weeks Smoke was captured on video chasing cars, kids, and even being hit by a car.
