APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – After skipping his sentencing hearing last week a man was booked into the Outagamie County jail Tuesday night.
24-year-old Travis Berndt has been convicted for knowingly operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license in connection with a 2016 fatal crash.
Berndt but did not appear for scheduled sentencing on November 28 and jail records show that he was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Tuesday.
He could be back in court Wednesday afternoon.
Berndt was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control when he exited the I-41 off-ramp at Highway 55 in Kaukauna, according to the State Patrol.
The vehicle rolled over several times and killed Jamie Jackson, while injuring two others.
