GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Green Bay’s city council has passed the city’s budget for next year.
Staffing an ambulance at Fire Station 7, on the corner of Humboldt Road and Huron Road on the city’s far east side, was on the chopping block.
However, the council agreed to shift money in the fire department’s budget and take $156,000 from its reserve fund to keep the ambulance.
Removing the ambulance was expected to increase response times by an average of two and a half minutes in that area, according to numbers Fire Chief David Litton shared last week.
Overall, property taxes are going up. For a $150,000 home, the increase will be about $21.
City leaders have blamed the increase on lost revenue sources and previous budgets being filled with one-time money sources, including excess Lambeau Field sales tax money.
