MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A high-speed car chase early Thursday morning in Manitowoc ended in a cornfield.
The initial traffic stop was made around 2:00 AM on I-43 in the township of Manitowoc Rapids.
The pickup truck sped off as a deputy approached and reached speeds of 105 mph.
The truck turned into a cornfield after a tire deflation device deflated all four tires of the vehicle.
38-year-old Steven Mier was taken into custody and it was discovered he’s wanted on three active warrants, which include one by the Department of Corrections for a parole violation, one in Ozaukee County for theft by contractor fraud and one in Milwaukee County for a city ordinance violation.
No one was injured in the incident and Mier has not been formally charged in the case yet.
Felony charges of fleeing and eluding an officer are being recommended against Mier.
