ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – The Packers opened their doors on Wednesday to showcase some exciting developments being constructed next to Lambeau Field.
Watch your step was the rule to follow as the site of the future Titletown Tech was explored. Currently under construction, the joint venture between the Packers and Microsoft is expected to be completed by early 2019.
Packers President Mark Murphy lists a goal for the creative center.
“Keeping more of our college graduates from UW-Green Bay, St. Norbert, NWTC, here in the area,” he says. “Also, attracting college graduates.”
Packers Chief Operating Officer Ed Policy says the idea for this facility was hatched long ago.
“We’ve been working on planning the Titletown Tech concept for nearly five years now,” he explains.
An innovation lab, a venture studio, and a venture fund will be the three major components that will drive the future facility.
Mark Murphy hopes this helps create an atmosphere that makes people want to stay in Green Bay longer.
“So when people are coming to Lambeau Field for a game, rather than staying for one day they stay two or three days with the amenities we’ve added here,” he says. “We really see it as a community asset.”
Ed Policy explains the central idea they had when first conceiving plans for the facility nearly five years ago.
“Initially we were just looking for really creative ways to try to use the Packers brand and leverage our new real estate assets in Titletown,” he says.
Brad Smith, the President of Microsoft and a Wisconsin native, was present to tour the construction site and help unveil the new logo for Titletown Tech.
