FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – One of the individuals described by police as being part of an international crime ring pleaded not guilty to 40 counts of credit card forgery in Fond du Lac court on Thursday.
35-year-old Catalin-Adrian Capanu will return to court on November 9 for a scheduling conference and no trial date has been set, according to court records.
Another suspect, 26-year-old Mihai Preda faces similar charges and he pleaded not guilty last month.
Both men were arrested on June 10 after they were reported acting suspiciously near an ATM.
A witness called the police and they found 137 forged credit cards and $7,500 in cash.
The suspects are believed to be part of a nationwide Romanian organized crime ring that targets local areas and attempts to steal credit and debit card information.
