GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – In the last twelve months, Wisconsin Public Service has helped restore power to two areas hit by hurricanes.
“It really does come at the request of those energy companies that are affected by the severe weather event.”
Matt Cullen, WPS spokesperson says it is not uncommon for their employees to help out, but only when called upon. He says that request has not been made for the area damaged by Hurricane Florence.
“WPS crews have not been requested to assist with those restoration efforts.
For now, Cullen says it is work as normal in Wisconsin, but they will be ready if needed.
“We are still paying very close attention to the situation down in those areas impacted by Hurricane Florence. We continue to participate in mutual aid conference calls.
Over 400,000 people were still without power as of the weekend.
