GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A recent study shows that the Port of Green Bay has increased in its economic impact.
The study found in 2017 that the port had an economic impact $147 million, which is a $64 million increase since 2010.
The study also shows that the cargo and vessel activity in the area supports 1,289 jobs.
Port activities produced an estimated $82 million in income and $9 million in state taxes according to the research.
“The 14 Port terminals located along three miles of the Fox River take advantage of the economic opportunities offered by this international port, including the Foreign Trade Zones located nearby,” Dean Haen, Director of the Port of Green Bay, told Fox 11 News. “Each year, 170 ships move important commodities, including limestone, coal, cement, salt, iron and petroleum products, in and out of the region.”
According to the study, 1.83 million metric tons of cargo passed through the Port of Green Bay in 2017.
