KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ) – A Finnish company has purchased two paper mills in Northeast Wisconsin.
Ahlstrom-Munksjö, which is a global leader in fiber-based materials, announced Monday they have purchased all shares of Expera.
They own the Thilmany Mill in Kaukauna and the Nicolet Mill in De Pere. It also has mills in Mosinee and Rhinelander and employs about 1,800 people.
“The sale of Expera signals a likely long-term presence of pulp and paper jobs in communities beyond Outagamie County such as Rhinelander, Mosinee, and DePere,” said Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson in a recent press release.
