MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ) –
Two weeks after releasing a new sketch of a potential 1976 murder suspect, Marinette County Sheriff’s Department has been getting some new leads.
“We have some suspects that they are mentioning that are far away and some that are in the region, so it is all over the place but they keep coming in.”
Sheriff Jerry Suave says after releasing the photos, it did not take long for people to start offering information.
“We have over 35 pieces of information that have come in. Some are a little sketchy and others are new to us.”
Suave says even though not all the information is able to be followed up on, people should not try to determine if the information that they have will be of value.
“Let us be the judge of that.”
He says they want anyone who thinks they have information the case or a suspect to call them.
Police continue to look for the man that killed David Schuldes and Ellen Matheys 42 years ago during a camping trip at McClintock Park.
Police have begun taking DNA swabs from some people since releasing the photos.
