GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Brown County officials hosted a rat trap giveaway Saturday.
Nearly 1,500 traps were up for grabs on a first come-first serve basis at the Neville Public Museum.
The county budgeted $5,000 to buy the traps.
Rodents have been an issue in the city for several years.
One city official shares what he thinks are the next steps.
“I think that really what needs to happen is both the city council; county board provided funding but now we need the organizations such as the health department, city inspection to really work together and create that solid plan and I think they’re doing it. They have been in talks so I’m happy that that’s happening,” said Patrick Evans, Brown County supervisor.
Officials say to keep the rats away you should remove food and water sources that could be used as shelter and throw away garbage on a regular basis.
