FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – The Wisconsin State Patrol says it will use aircraft and ground-based officers to enforce traffic and safety laws along WIS 23 in Fond du Lac County today.
“We publicly announce many of these initiatives because our goal is not to simply stop and cite drivers, but to encourage motorists to voluntarily comply with traffic laws at all times,” said Captain Ryan Chaffee with the State Patrol’s Fond du Lac Post.
“With another busy travel season underway, we want everyone to reach their destinations safely. This requires all motorists to watch their speed, be patient and alert every time they get behind the wheel.”
State Patrol says its aircraft use highway markings and a timing device, known as VASCAR, to determine vehicle speeds.
If an aerial officer notices a driver violating a speed or traffic law, it will notify a ground-based officer to initiate a traffic stop.
