MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Capitol Civic Centre in Manitowoc has embarked on a campaign to raise $2.5 million.
The project is called “Act Two: A Vision for the Capitol’s Second Century.”
The project will allow for new house seating, additional restrooms, and an expanded lobby.
While similar in style and decor, the new main floor lobby bar design will be revised to accommodate multiple serving station opportunities to better serve patrons pre-show, during intermission, and for special receptions and events held in the Mertens Family Lobby/Kadow Movie Museum and Salutz Family Lobby.
Capitol Centre executive director, Matthew Schliesman, give FOX 11 a timeline.
“We’re looking at having the work start late this summer. It’ll be in different phases but we’ll do a lot of the construction this fall. A lot of it will happen behind existing walls or above us.”
The theater, which will celebrate its 97th birthday on June 16, was opened as Ascher Brothers’ Capitol Theatre.
The theater underwent a major renovation in 1987 and reopened as the Capitol Civic Centre.
