APPLETON, WI (WTAQ)- Update: Appleton Police say the suspicious package that they were investigating was a briefcase that contained a bunch of papers. Officers are still trying to figure out how the briefcase got there in the first place.
The area of the Outagamie County Administration Building on South Walnut Street in Appleton is closed as officers are investigating a suspicious package.
The department is investigating what looks like a briefcase on the curb.
Appleton police call the procedure cautionary.
The Brown-Outagamie County Bomb Squad has been called in to help in the investigation.
