DODGEVILLE, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) Dodgeville-based Lands’ End is going back to having brick-and-mortar stores along with its mail order business. The retailer has opened a new 5,000-square-foot store in Chicago suburbs of Killdeer and is planning to open six more stores this year.
In the next five years, Lands’ End hopes to have 60 retail locations.
The stores are also integrated to Lands’ End call centers. Each includes a lounge area with comfortable seating, computer kiosks, and phones that connect to customer service centers. Items that are seen or tried on in the stores can be ordered online in different sizes, colors, or quantities. Items that are ordered from retail locations get free shipping and free returns.
Lands’ End is working to separate itself from Sears, as that company continues to struggle and close stores across the country. Sears bought Lands’ End in 2002 and has placed Lands’ End departments in Sears stores. The company was spun off as a separate unit in 2014.
