MADISON, WI (WTAQ)- A big to determine the future of the State Treasurer is just a day away.
Former State Treasurer Jack Voight it pushing for a “no” vote for the question of eliminating his former position.
“We would lose the checks and balances. We would lose the fiscal voice and watchdog for Wisconsin citizens.
Voight says that may be just the beginning if the vote is yes.
“The next two offices will be on the ballot as well,” Voight says. “That is the Secretary of State Office as well as the Constitutional Agency of Public Land.”
Current State Treasurer Matt Adamczyk says the duties of the position have been shifted to other departments.
Voight says State Treasurer Matt Adamczyk is not taking the right approach.
“First of all I think Mr. Adamczyk should have fired himself initially, because he said it does not do anything while he is taking a salary for the last three years.”
He also argues that eliminating the position goes against the constitution.
“It’s on the ballot, and I hope they vote no.”
