SEYMOUR, WI (WTAQ) – Charges are pending against two Seymour Schools students after police say a fake gun was found in a Middle School/High School classroom.
Reports of a weapon brought on campus prompted an educational lockdown in the building.
Superintendent Laurie Asher says a student tipped off the high school around noon.
“It was reported that it was believed to be a firearm.”
Asher says the educational lockdown allowed students to stay in class and stay safe during the investigation.
“It is just an opportunity for when we have a possible unsafe situation at our schools, to give us a chance to investigate.”
Authorities say students were released from the school at 3 pm in a slow and organized fashion. Students were not allowed to stop at their locker before leaving the building.
An investigation into the matter continued after students were released.
Classes are expected to resume on Thursday.
