ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A benefit in Ashwaubenon on Sunday, welcomed a public safety officer back to full duty, less than six months after a life-threatening injury.
People could enjoy a pizza and wing buffet, raffle baskets and live entertainment.
On July 22, 2017 while directing traffic, Officer Brian Murphy was hit by a vehicle on Highway 41.
His injuries included brain trauma and severe leg fractures.
Murphy spent 17 days in the hospital and was out of work for four months.
Many came together to help in his recovery.
Heidi Murphy is Brian Murphy’s wife tells FOX 11 WILEORC made a big difference for them.
“There’s a lot of things that go into being injured in the line of duty, a lot of resources are needed so WILEORC really helps to make sure that financial resources are being met, counseling referrals, just really banding together to help the family in a time of need.”
Money from the event will be donated to the “Wisconsin Injured Law Enforcement Officers Resource Council.”
