DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) – The expected expansion of a De Pere-based maker of custom enclosures and other metal products to Manitowoc has been made official.
Robinson Metal hopes to be in the former home of Manitowoc Crane by May.
“First was facility that could accommodate us from a square footage perspective. And then also from an overhead lifting capability, crane size, things like that.”
Robinson Metal OPS Manager Sam Thomas says business for them is good.
They’ve been looking for a place, all over the state, to expand operations for nearly a year. The found what they needed close by.
“To be able to bring a company back in and be able to use that and have an opportunity to use that building for the workforce is critical.”
Peter Wills, with Progress Lakeshore, says finding someone to move onto the property has been a priority since Manitowoc Crane left nearly two years ago.
It’s been high on the list for Manitiwoc Community Development Director Nick Sparacio too.
“There’s only so many potential users for buildings that size. It’s just a great fit.”
But Thomas says for Robinson Metal it’s more than just the building….the workforce is the right fit as well.
“That midwestern work ethic that our customers come to us for is as vibrant in Manitowoc as it is in Green Bay.”
Robinson Metal brings 30 jobs to the lakeshore to start.. and hopes to expand on that.
