GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Another 15 people have graduated from the Department of Corrections Opioid Addiction Program.
The voluntary program funding is part of Governor Scott Walker’s efforts to address Wisconsin’s opioid problem.
Participants spend three months working with a parole officer and engaging in supportive services.
Graduate Anthony Verbanac says his life was bleak before the treatment.
“It was a near death experience and (the non-addictive, non-intoxicating drug) Vivitrol saved my life as well as the DOC, and I owe them a lot to my recovery and for this program.”
A total of 42 people have graduated in the program’s three years.
