GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A check welfare call for a suicidal man prompts a temporary lockdown at a Green Bay school.
Police Captain Kevin Warych says they received the Thursday afternoon request from the 1000 block of Shea Avenue, which is near Jefferson Elementary.
“At approximately 2:30 pm when school lets out, we didn’t want kids walking into that neighborhood from school.”
Warych says officers learned that “the individual had access to weapons. He made comments that not only threatened his safety, but were concerning to the officers responding to the scene.”
The captain notes the man was taken into custody without incident and is receiving treatment.
Warych says no charges are being pursued at this time.
