STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ)- With a dumping of snow this week, it is not all work in Door County.
The winter snow is not depressing for everyone. Barbara and Jim Abbott of Strurgeon Bay were snowshoeing for the first time this season.
It’s been beautiful. We would have been out here yesterday but we were shoveling,” explained Barbara.
John Jarosh with the visitor bureau said while Door County is known for summer tourism, many still find ways to participate in winter recreation.
“Good snow conditions, we got snowshoeing, certainly cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, those are kind of the top three.”
Area snowmobile clubs will be grooming the trails for the next few days.
“We’ve got lots of snow on the trails and everything, especially this weekend, should be open and ready.”
Jarosh says people also help the local economy by shopping, eating and staying overnight.
