APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – A program that educates low-income mothers and their pre-school age children has graduated seven of its first students.
The Women’s Fund of the Fox Valley Region’s ‘Starting Point 2.0’ teaches mothers life and family strengthening skills, also preparing them for college and career success.
Fox Valley Technical College Economic Advocate Kelly Kohl says this will benefit the kids.
“There are many studies that indicate that when children are watching their parents, they really mimic what they’re doing. So by creating a success story with the women, we are planting that into the next generation.”
The Women’s Fund has awarded more than $1.2-million dollars in grants to programs like this one.
