GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A $5,000 grant is meant to help a local animal shelter care for its current animals and start looking into opening a new building.
Safe Haven Humane Society in Green Bay received the money from Petco.
It was chosen based on an essay written by a 12-year-old girl Ellen Tellstrom, talking about how a pair of adopted guinea pigs have become her support animals for her health condition.
Kathy is Ellen’s mother.
“What we were talking about on the way down here is how exciting it is that she’s able to provide this cash, so someday the next children looking for their forever pets for their forever homes, she will be able to say she had a part in that.”
The grant is part of Petco Foundation’s ‘Holiday Wishes Campaign.’
