DE PERE, WI (WTAQ)- Many are calling on the plumber after Thanksgiving.
Along with being one of the busiest shopping days of the year, Thanksgiving weekend is also a busy time for plumbers.
Friday is known as “Brown Friday.”
Master Plumber Andrew Verhaagh of Drew’s Plumbing in De Pere says that it’s the color of what is in your garbage disposal after the holiday.
“People use them as trash compactors instead of the little bit of waste that is supposed to go down it.”
Verhaagh says plumbers are also called for grease buildup in the pipes. He says grease belongs in the garbage.
“It will actually solidify down the piping as it gets colder, and that causes blockage too.”
Holiday food items to avoid feeding your disposal are egg shells, potato peels and carrot peels.
