APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – One Northeast Wisconsin municipality has been ranked among the best places to live in the United States.
A new Wall Street 24/7 release places Appleton 48th on its top 50 list.
While this is the first time the city made this particular ranking, Appleton Communications Coordinator Chad Doran notes they’ve been honored by other publications in the past.
“We’ve been everything from best place to live, best place to raise a family, best place for kids.”
The Wall Street study cites Appleton’s housing costs, quality of schools, and the high concentration of restaurants, bars, and entertainment opportunities.
“We have all of those amenities that big cities have, but we still have that small town feel that people are really looking for.”
Doran feels other recent efforts the city has made also helped them earn the distinction.
“We’re improving our parks. We’ve done renovations to Erb Park. Jones Park is undergoing renovations. Memorial Park is going to be undergoing renovations. Kind of providing the basics and the services that people expect.”
Doran explains how the city can benefit from the recognition.
“Just being on these lists that get shared across the country really puts Appleton out there and makes us a destination that people really want to come to.”
The only other Wisconsin city to make the list is Waukesha, which came in at #36.
