APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – A group of dogs whose owners had to give them up after being affected by Hurricane Harvey have arrived in Northeast Wisconsin.
A total of 56 canines made the flight from Houston to Appleton Monday.
While the majority of the dogs will stay at the Fox Valley Humane Society’s Appleton location, six are headed to their Oshkosh facility.
The Humane Society’s Deb Lewis hopes the dogs will be ready for adoption next week.
“If you stop and think about that pet that’s sitting on your Davenport next to you, can you imagine if you had to sign it over because you couldn’t take it with you? It just breaks my heart to think what those people are going through.”
