BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – The trial for the 39-year-old Green Bay man charged in a May 2016 Bellevue murder has been postponed.
Multiple unresolved pre-trial motions have pushed the start of George Burch’s trial back from October 2 to February 16.
Prosecutors believe Burch killed Nicole VanderHeyden and dumped her body in a field.
Burch plans to argue that VanderHeyden’s ex-boyfriend Douglass Detrie is the real killer.
The state will allow his defense team to make that case, but only after Burch takes the stand.
