GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A suspicious package was reported on the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College campus late Tuesday morning.
Green Bay Police Captain Kevin Warych notes his agency responded.
“When officers arrived on scene, they located a bottle with some wires coming out of it, with something inside the bottle. In following the protocols of the department, they evacuated the immediate area, which was a dorm and a business adjacent to the dorm.”
Warych notes officers were unable to identify the item and called in the Brown and Outagamie County Bomb Squad.
“The bomb squad responded and x-rayed the item and determined that it was not an explosive and there was no explosive material inside the bottle.”
Warych says the bomb squad took the item for further evaluation.
Once the scene was cleared, people were allowed back into the buildings, about 90 minutes after the evacuations.
Warych says there are still multiple unanswered questions.
“We don’t know who put it there. We just have some people that we want to talk to, to try and determine the timeline, determine who may have put that there, and then we’ll determine the intent and the motive.”
Classes went on throughout the incident.
