CALUMET COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – Calumet County Health officials say a bat found earlier this week has tested positive for rabies.
It is unknown if the bat transmitted the disease to any humans or other animals.
People can contract the virus when bitten by an infected animal or when that animal’s saliva comes in contact with broken skin.
Folks are urged to be cautious around any wild animal.
