MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – President Trump has selected Waushara County’s District Attorney to serve as a U.S. attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.
Scott Blader has served as the county’s DA since 2007.
If confirmed by the Senate, Blader would replace John Vaudreuil, who resigned in March.
The president has also nominated Milwaukee attorney Michael Brennan to fill a vacancy on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
That slot has been open since 2010 and is designated for a judge from Wisconsin.
However, Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office says Brennan never received approval from the bipartisan Wisconsin Federal Nominating Commission, which typically vets federal nominees.
Baldwin says she’s ‘troubled’ by the president taking a ‘partisan approach that disrespects Wisconsin’s process.’
