MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) – An 18-year-old Manitowoc man has been arrested after biting a police officer and a first responder.
Manitowoc Police was called at 3:41 am Sunday to an undisclosed location for reports of a man acting irrationally. He was suspected of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Officers say the man was non-compliant and was detained for his and others’ safety.
He was led to the back of an ambulance for medical treatment.
That’s where he reportedly became physically combative and bit the two people.
Investigators say the man also spit on both the same EMS provider and a different officer.
The man was incapacitated after police deployed his taser, which allowed officers to restrain him long enough for EMS personnel to administer a drug to make sure he would arrive safely at the hospital.
Both people who were bit were treated at a local hospital and released.
The 18-year-old was taken to the Winnebago County Jail on a variety of charges including Battery to Law Enforcement, Discharging Bodily Fluids at a Public Safety Worker, and Obstruction.
