ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – The streets around Lambeau Field were buzzing as the first day of Packers Training Camp got underway Thursday morning at Ray Nitschke Field.
People started lining up outside the gates long before they opened at 6:45 a.m.
But the weather was perfect and nobody seemed to mind the wait.
“I woke up before the alarm, I jumped out of bed…it was Christmas morning,” said Barb Frank from Claremont, California.
Other fans who lived closer to home were just as excited to see their favorite players.
Attending the first day of camp is a yearly tradition for Jordan Bloch of Green Bay.
“I’m really excited to see the new talent that we brought up and see some of the old guys as well. See how well they’ve grown and matured.”
And lastly, we can’t forget about the Clay Matthews fans…and there were lots. This girl was from Virginia.
“Well we have the same hair and he has big muscles and I like guys with big muscles and long hair.”
If you missed Thursday’s opening practice, Friday and Saturday’s practices will be open to the public too. They begin at 8:15 A.M.
